FIRESTOPPING SERVICE

BRAND has been actively installing Firestops since its inception in 1967. The company has installed Firestops in approximately 60% of all commercial nuclear power plants in the United States as well as other countries including Japan, China, Korea, Brazil and Mexico. Additionally, BRAND has installed firestops in hundreds of commercial, industrial, educational and healthcare facilities, throughout the northeast and upper mid Atlantic states. BRAND can install all Firestop materials including HILTI, 3M, STI and Tremco products.

FIRESTOPPING SERVICES INCLUDE: New construction, retro fits and code compliance up-grades. Firestopping of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and plastic piping penetrations. Sealing of unconventional and large openings that are outside of the bounds of UL testing, through the use of the material manufactures engineering evaluations. Firestopping of curtain walls, slab edge construction joints and areas that are difficult access. Extending the top of a wall that does not currently butt up to the floor above.

FIREPROOFING SERVICE

BRAND offers a full range of fireproofing services designed to support new construction, renovations and building upgrades. Our applications include the use of large high production pumps, small mobile pumps, hand patching and dry fireproofing material applications. BRAND also provides defective fireproofing removal and replacement services.

FIREPROOFING SERVICES: High volume applications; one team of four technicians can install between 4,000 and 5,000 board feet of material per day. Multiple crews can be used to increase daily production and compress schedules. Medium volume applications; typically used in confined spaces or on small projects. A two or three man team can install an average of 1,500 board feet per day with small mobile pumps. Restoration or retrofit services include; removal and disposal of existing material, steel preparation and new material application. Dry board fireproofing includes; the installation of UL approved dry fiberboards to achieve the required fire rating. The advantage of the board application is that it is dry, is not temperature sensitive and can be applied in an occupied building with a minimum disruption to daily operations.

Effective January 2007 BRAND is offering a fireproofing Design Review and Value Engineering Service.
BRAND will review your specification and drawings to assure that they meet the intent of the relevant IBC or BOCA codes.
BRAND will make recommendations for cost reductions if the specification used exceeds the minimum code requirement.

ENGINEERING SUPPORT & VALUE ENGINEERING

Dr. Michael Sullo heads BRAND’S fireproof engineering and estimating department and has developed a unique under-standing of the interaction between the BOCA and IBC codes along with the property owner’s unique use requirements. In an effort to develop a consistent coherent approach to the process of fireproofing a structure, he has developed a Fireproofing Design Comparison Chart, which incorporates the three major material manufacturers products, and their specific UL test designs as they relate to the various components of the building structure.
