FIRE / SMOKE DAMPER SERVICES

BRAND offers a comprehensive Damper inspection and maintenance program that is designed to meet the code requirements of NFPA - 90A. This code requires that all dampers are physically inspected every 4 years. Additionally, JCAHO also requires a 4 year physical inspection cycle on all fire and smoke dampers per EC 2.12.1.

INSPECTION PROGRAM:

  • Locate each damper and confirm that it is in a rated barrier.
  • Conduct a physical and visual inspection of all damper components to verify the equipments functionality.
  • Make adjustments or install replacement components as required.
  • Label and date each damper.
  • Label the barrier wall for Fire or Smoke.
  • Submit an inspection report for each damper.
  • Submit a summary list of deficient dampers, which includes: damper location, nature of damage, corrective action and repair cost budget.

MAINTENANCE PROGRAMS:

BRAND offers an annual maintenance program that is designed to inspect 25% of facilities dampers each year. In addition to inspecting the dampers, BRAND will seal and correct any Firestop deficiencies located near the damper and within the barrier. This program benefits facility budgets by spreading the inspection costs over a four year period while keeping your dampers compliant with JCAHO, state and federal codes.

FIRE DOOR SERVICES

5.2.1 of NFPA 80 states: Fire Door Assemblies shall be inspected and tested not less than annually, and a written record of the inspections shall be signed and kept by the AHJ.  The intent of this requirement is to ensure each fire door assembly is inspected and tested for operation.  In other words, the functional testing verifies each fire door will move to the closed position and remain closed (e.g., latched) as would be required under a fire condition.  It is required that written documentation of these inspections be kept on file in the building and presented to the AHJ (Authority Having Jursidiction) upon request.

5.1.5 of NFPA 80 Titled: Repairs and Field Modifications, states repairs shall be made and defects that could interfere with the doors operation shall be corrected without delay.
